This summer Comedy Carpet Live comes to Blackpool on the 27 to 28 July. This two day event hosted by the illustrious Paul Merton of Have I Got News For You fame, is sure to be a must-have ticket event of the summer season. International Comedy Star Djalili Comes to Blackpool Omad Djalili hails from Iranian parentage and has toured worldwide. This British actor, comedian, scriptwriter and television producer came to fame in films including Gladiator, The Mummy, The World is Not Enough and Notting Hill. On his role in the James Bond film he remarks on his Middle Eastern typecasting as the “Second Azerbaijani oil pipe attendant”. Djalili has trod the famous boards of The West End in Oliver! as Fagan, and made his comedy debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in his cryptically titled show “Short, Fat, Kebab Shop Owner’s Son.” Blackpool crowds will warm to his unique flavour of émigré humour and take on living in London and being a ‘normal’ guy. Home Grown Comedy Stars Come To Blackpool Mark Watson is now a regular on BBC4’s any questions, originally hailing from the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival. Blackpool is known for its support of new and inspiring comedy acts, and it is no surprise that someone discovered at Edinburgh would choose to perform in Blackpool. Mark Watson specialises in topical comedy, politics and current affairs, and his acerbic wit will surely bring the house down. At 22 years of age Daniel Sloss became a professional live television performer while in his teens. A taste for stand-up developed when he appeared on Channel 4’s The Paul O’Grady Show in 2009. At the age of 19 he was commissioned by the BBC to do his own show called The Adventures of Daniel. He is one of the youngest comedy stars on the circuit, and first performed in 2007 at  Edinburgh’s Laughing Horse Pub as an impromptu stand-up act. Originally a serious student of history at the University of Dundee, the lure of the comedy circuit saw Daniel performing regularly and gaining momentum each performance. He is definitely one to watch. 28 year old Lucy Beaumont is hailed as a rising star by Johnny Vegas, who praises her for her comedy timing. “I haven’t seen timing like that since the likes of Les Dawson.” Blackpool fans will no doubt love the lady with the punchline power of one of Blackpool’s favourite comedians, and she will add a touch of her hometown, Hull, to the evening of Comedy Carpet Live 2013.
