Blackpool Festive Breaks  Blackpool is a fantastic place to spend Christmas. Hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes all capture the traditional Christmas spirit and offer food and entertainment alongside spectacular decorations. This is the place to see Christmas on display, with unique and artistic decorations each year seeming to out do the year before.  The Blackpool Christmas lights are switched on in November and provide a wonderful backdrop to the activities taking place. Each year Santa Claus makes a public appearance down the promenade, inside the Blackpool Tower, in fact he is sure to turn up all over the place giving out sweets and granting wishes to all. Don’t miss Santa’s Magic Grotto inside the Pleasure Beach Resort. Jungle Jim puts on a special Christmas Show and Mooky and Bubu, the Tower Circus clowns do a festive routine for all ages to enjoy.  There’s plenty of turkey and tinsel on offer in Blackpool at this time of year, and while you are on vacation you can book into a specially organised meal and meet other holiday revellers and share in some Christmas cheer. There are plenty of Christmas cabaret shows to book into, featuring comedians, famous melodies and showgirls.  The attractions on Blackpool promenade are decorated for the season, with the world famous Blackpool Trams covered in Christmas lights, snow, tinsel and the odd Father Christmas or wayward reindeer. There are plenty of street stalls and games for the family to enjoy, with special Christmas events for children at all of the major attractions.  Christmas shopping is popular in Blackpool with scores of gifts from the major retailers, alongside local crafts and traditional foodstuffs. Stroll through the traditional town, scented with cinnamon and spiced wine, and take in the atmosphere.  The annual pantomime at The Grand Theatre is considered to be a must see.  Entertaining pantomimes for you to laugh your way through, alongside festive shows are also on at The Winter Gardens.  At the end of the Christmas fun there is the inaugural New Year’s Eve party at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom if you want to dance the night away. For a family New Year’s Eve the place to celebrate is The Empress Ballroom in The Winter Gardens.  For a lively, entertaining Christmas with tons of good cheer visit Blackpool for a special festive getaway.
