Blackpool Fireworks 2011
Blackpool Fireworks 2011, September is the month to see fireworks in Blackpool. The World Firework’s Championships start Friday September 9, 2011 with displays ongoing every Friday evening until the closing ceremony display on 30th September.
The events, hosted by local radio station, 97.4FM, are competitive, thrilling and visually spectacular displays by the world’s elite firework masters. Excellent vantage points include the area between the North Promenade and Central Promenade, and the sea front to the Central Pier. Wherever you are, on the night that these displays occur, you are sure to see some of the most spectacular fireworks around.
Part of Blackpool’s charm is the relationship it has with lights and all to do with it. Did you know that Blackpool was the first municipality in the world to embrace electric lighting? Something ‘turned on’ in the heart of Blackpool back in the 1800s, as ever since, lighting, illumination and fireworks have been a huge part of its appeal.
The firework displays will be around the Central Pier area this year, with some beach front displays. You might want to check out the new Spanish style steps as a position to sit down. Since the events are free to the public, you won’t be alone if you take a small picnic rug and settle down to watch from around 7.30pm.
To win the competition, teams must create brilliant pyrotechnic displays co-ordinated to music. Crowd reaction, technical brilliance and of course, colour, sights and sounds all count towards winning the title. The public help decide the winning team by texting to the radio station who they think deserves to win. The judging panel will deliver their verdict on the final evening, on the 30th of September and then the closing ceremony fireworks will end this year’s competition.
