At Blackpool’s Tower ballroom the TV entertainment smash hit show Strictly Come Dancing is set to return for autumn 2014. New host Claudia Winkelman – replacing Bruce Forsyth – joins Tess Daly on Saturday November 15th, live from the world famous ballroom in Blackpool. There was some controversy in 2012 when Strictly seemed to turn its back on the grand dame of ballrooms for the stark size capacity of Wembley Arena. This turned out to be a one-off – something to do with the ambience and atmosphere lacking, perhaps? Strictly returned to Blackpool for a few episodes in 2013, and this year is set to stage the Children in Need broadcast at the Tower Circus. Fantastic Stars Line Up for Strictly Come Dancing 2014 The guest list of competitors never fails to disappoint and the line-up for 2014 certainly doesn’t either. Tennis coach and famous mum of Andy Murray, Judy Murray takes the floor against Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker, rugby player Thom Evans, pop stars Pixie Lott and Frankie Bridge (of the Saturdays), and Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace. As if that wasn’t enough excitement, the ladies are sure to be screaming support for Radio One veteran DJ Scott Mills and Blue singer Simon Webbe. The general manager of the Tower, Kate Shane agrees the whole Blackpool Tower Ballroom staff are “really excited Strictly is going to be here again.” She added “it’s a big year for the Tower at 120 years old; and having Strictly back is the icing on the cake we wanted.” Children in Need Strictly Special to be Broadcast from Blackpool In what is considered a double coup for the Blackpool Tower team, the Children in Need broadcast will be set in the Tower Ballroom for the Strictly Come Dancing special. Last year, you may recall Jane Torvill and Dean battled to win Strictly on our TV screens with their rendition of the famous ballroom dancing competition. Manager Michael Williams from the Winter Gardens, said it was a ‘money can’t buy’ opportunity for the resort, and they were looking forward to hosting the charity edition in November. There’s tickets on sale soon from the Winter Gardens complex if you’d like to attend the Strictly Come Dancing late stage rounds or the Children in Need broadcast. Make the weekend extra special by staying in one of Blackpool’s finest hotels, The Carn Brae, and meet our wonderful staff who will be happy to help you find your way around the North’s premier seaside resort town.
