Vintage Dance Night at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom
September 23, 2013 at 10:37 am
On Saturday 28th of September the Blackpool Tower Ballroom comes alive with the glamour of yester-year. The popular Vintage Dance Night celebrates a golden age of dance, when the Charleston, Tango, and Quickstep were danced in every musical hall around the country. Classic Dances for Everyone to Try Specialising in dances from the first half of the twentieth century, there’s the chance to learn how to dance from 7pm with expert instructors in all styles. The Lindy Hop, Ballroom, and Latin dances seem hard to master if you are watching from the sidelines. Vintage Dance Night organizers promise that with a few simple lessons at the start of the evening, you’ll be whirling around the floor before you can say ‘Ginger Rogers’. Fancy Dress from the Early 20th Century Beginners are very welcome, alongside more experienced dancers. The evening has a themed dress code, encouraging everyone to dress in vintage 1920’s to 1950’s styled outfits. Dance hall events entertained youth in the early 20th century, so the dress code is designed to celebrate this much-loved era of dancing and fun. Live music at the event is from Zoot Serious, and a Belly Full of Bop, who’ll be tapping out all the numbers to match the six dance styles on offer. Dance the Night Away If you don’t want to compete with the experts all the time, music in-between specific dance sets provided by Aspirations Dance (who promise to play rock ‘n’ roll and other popular dancing tunes from the mid 90s to present day), might be right up your street. The event finishes at midnight and the end of night free disco dance will be loads of fun. The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is the grand old lady of dance hall venues. You won’t find a better venue in Blackpool to try your hand – or foot – at classic dances and vintage dance steps. With a bar, snacks, live music, and dance-orientated DJs to entertain you from 7pm until midnight, make sure you book this event in your diary when visiting Blackpool.
