Saturday 26th of July, 2014 sees the return of the World Matchplay Darts Finals competition to Viva Blackpool. The VIVA event is a Darts Party where the fans have a chance to meet the players of past glory and promises the very best of all darts has to offer including intense competition from legends of the sport. With the World Matchplay Darts semi-finals held at the nearby Winter Gardens venue this is a chance to get into the mood for what is sure to be a heated 2014 competition. The prize pot this year for the winner of the World Matchplay Darts Final Trophy is £450,000 pounds, which is not bad for a couple of days throwing arrows. The tournament is sponsored by the betting company, BetVictor. The tournament commenced in 1994, with the first winner Larry Butler, who defeated Dennis Priestly 16-12 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.  Regarded as the second most important PDC tournament; the whole tournament was sold out within 3 days of the tickets being on sale.
